The story
It all begins in the Brazilian Cerrado, where golden grass grows — Syngonanthus nitens — a plant that seems spun from light.
Orit came across it while travelling, in the hands of the artisans who have harvested and woven it for generations. From that encounter Oroboros was born: a way to carry a piece of that land with you, woven into jewelry.
Today every piece is born of that bond: Orit designs it, and the artisans of the Cerrado weave it by hand, as they always have. No moulds, no production runs: no two pieces are ever alike.
It is a partnership of equals, built on fair pay and respect for the land: golden grass is harvested by hand, only in the season the field allows.
The name
Gold, and a circle without end.
Oroboros weaves two words together: oro — the Italian word for gold, here a gold that grows in the field — and the ouroboros, the serpent biting its own tail, an ancient symbol of the eternal cycle. Harvest, weaving, rebirth: every piece closes one circle and opens another.
The artist
Between two worlds
Israeli roots, an artist's training, Italy as home. Orit has spent a lifetime seeking beauty in the handmade; in golden grass she recognised a material that already looked like jewelry — and a community to share the craft with.
